Timothy Takach, composer and True Concord vocalist, has created an epic vocal work Helios, named after the Sun God, a musical exploration of the solar system.
Takach commissioned multiple new poems then added them to existing poems, all chosen to fit and enhance his vision. He combined them with his music; constantly changing textures, soundscapes, vocal techniques and harmonic language, all to spin the tale of the planets, the sun, the sheer enormity of the cosmos.
Helios’s Southwest premiere features gorgeous visuals of the universe projected over the choir, seen for the first time at these performances. This innovative programming is part of what True Concord is known for.
