Weagle: Serenade for Horn, Baritone, and Strings

  • DiMenna Center for Classical Music 450 West 37th Street New York City, NY (map)

SEA INTERLUDES

Music inspired by water runs through this program, from the crashing waves at Fingal’s Cave (Felix Mendelssohn’s The Hebrides) and the rugged northern California coastline (Gabriella Smith’s evocative Tumblebird Contrails) to Benjamin Britten’s atmospheric Four Sea Interludes. Friday’s concert showcases Max Bruch’s expressive Violin Concerto. Derek Weagle’s Serenade, written for TCS horn soloist John-Morgan Bush, draws inspiration from Britten’s iconic work for vocalist, horn, and strings.
